Shield: Per fess dancetty of two Or and Azure in chief seven piles Gules and in base a bar-gemel dancetty of two of the first, overall a bayonet palewise Proper.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalion of the Montana Army National Guard: From a wreath Or and Azure, a fleur-de-lis the middle leaf and tie Or, and outside leaves Argent.
Motto: MINISTRARE TUEBIMUR (To Serve, We Will Defend).

Distinctive Unit Insignia Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess dancetty of two Or and Azure in chief seven piles Gules and in base a bar-gemel dancetty of two of the first, overall a bayonet palewise Proper. Attached below the shield is a black scroll inscribed "MINISTRARE TUEBIMUR" in gold

Origin/meaning

Red, yellow and blue represent the combat arms. The piles and bars suggest the Rocky Mountains and the sunset of the west alluding to the unit’s home location in Montana. The bayonet highlights total military readiness.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia was authorized on 2 December 1997.
