Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 25, 1619, but the oldest known image (see above) dates from around 1747.
The arms are based on a local legend when, during a hunt, a wounded bear lifted a tree from the ground. The local lords were so impressed that they wanted this event to be the town arms.
