Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1978.
The area was first an imperial estate which became later a possession of the Counts of Veldenz, hence orb for the state and the blue lion of the Counts of Veldenz. The mercury symbol refers to the former mercury mining and the base refers to the Potzberg at the Eastern part of the municipality.
