Official blazon
German In achtfach von Silber und Blau geteiltem Schildbord in Silber eine eingepfropfte rote Spitze, darin ein goldenes Gemarkungszeichen in Form der verschlungenen Großbuchstaben A und V, oben rechts ein wachsender roter Krummstab, oben links ein rotbewehrter und -bezungter, goldbekrönter blauer Löwe.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 25, 1975.

The crosier refers to the so-called Remigiusland, an historical area ruled by the Bishop of Reims, Saint Remigius. The blue lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Veldenz, who ruled most of the area for a long time. The base is taken from the arms of Altenglan.

The bordure is a common symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde.
