Origin/meaning

Vaihingen received city rights in the early 13th century and was the capital of the Counts of Vaihingen. In 1339 they sold the city to the Counts of Württemberg.

The arms were granted in 1530 by Emperor Karl V, and the oldest known coloured image dates from 1535. The lion is derived from the arms of the Counts of Vaihingen and the deer antler from those of Württemberg.
