Origin/meaning
The maple leaves and the word “CANADA” represent service to Canada. The horse represents the regiment’s cavalry origins and the ducal coronet service to the Sovereign. “FIRST HUSSARS” is a form of the regimental title and “HODIE NON CRAS” is the motto of the regiment. The Motto translates as “Today not tomorrow”.
The Blazon of the badge was confirmed by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on October 4, 2004.
