Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 24 1820, with changed colours again on August 28, 1847 and without crown used since 1977, but not officially granted.
The arms show the lion of Vlaanderen or Namur. The arms were used by the Counts of Namur until the late 15th century. Andenne was a possession of the Counts of Namur in the 12th century, and they were the oldest known Lords of Andenne. Hence the municipality applied for the use of these arms.
Initially, in 1820, the arms were granted in the wrong colours. The reason for that is not known. The colours were corrected in 1847.
