Origin/meaning
The dragon is taken from the arms of the Lords (Counts) of Kesselstatt, former lords of the village. The fleur-de-lys is the symbol for St. Mary as the village is a place for pilgrimage to St. Mary. The fleur-de-lys also refers to a local legend involving three maidens.
The village historically belonged to the Scharfbillig estate within the Duchy of Luxembourg until 1795. The blue, red and silver are the colours of Luxembourg.
