The shield is a bifurcated amalgam of both the paternal line (HOWARD of England through John Howard of Bridgewater, MA arrived Colonies 1643); and the armiger's maternal line (GUNKEL of Frankenheim, Germany through Reinhard Gunkel of Baltimore, MD arrived USA in 1898). The motto is All For One has layered meanings. The crest is an owl landing on an armillary sphere. This reflects the armiger's interest in spiritual matters, astronomy, and the study of psychometrics.
