The first wuarter refers to the name of the village, which may be derived from Belenos, Gallic god of light and, by extension, of the sun. The green colour refers to the agricultural character of the municipality.
The second quarter shows the arms of the Bourbonnais region and the department of Allier.
The lower part refers to the Oeil which originiates in the municipality. The mitre refers to Saint Aignan patron of the parish.
