The first arms were granted on November 4, 1854 and new arms were granted on February 2, 1982.

The old arms are based on the 18^th century seal of the village and show St. Martin, the patron saint, cutting his cloak for a beggar.

After the merger the arms were changed. The new arms show the old arms in the upper half, and the arms of Overmere and UItbergen in the lower half.
