Origin/meaning

The arms are officially granted on May 26, 1978.

The arms are canting and show a fountain (Brunnen). The fountain already appears on the seals of the city dating from the 14th and 15^th century. The colours and present shape were defined in 1812, but with three stars on the side. These were removed later during the 19^th century and were finally restored in 1978.
