Origin/meaning
The blue field and the silver wavy bordure refer to the Caribbean Sea where the islands are situated. The 13 stars refer to the United States. The key and sword are the symbols of St. Peter and St. Paul respectively, the patron saints of the cathedral in Charlotte Amalie.
