Gedeeld, rechts: van goud met een leeuw van sabel houdend in zijn rechterpoot een dubbele adelaar van dezelfde kleur; links: van sabel met een naar het schildhoofd afgeknotte paal van zilver, ondersteund door een faas van dezelfde kleur, vergezeld van drie sterren met zes stralen van goud, twe ein het schildhoofd en een in de schildvoet.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 8, 1952.

The arms are a combination of the lion and eagle of Assenede and the arms of the Kéthulle family. The estate of Ertvelde historically belonged to territory of Assenede and the Viscounts of Gent. The last Lords of Ertvelde in the late 18^th century belonged to the Kéthulle family, hence the arms of the family were combined in the arms of the municipality.
