Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1938.
The upper part shows the cross of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged. The wavy bar symbolises the Lenne river.
The lower half is taken from the arms of the Lords of Bilstein, lords of the area in the 13th and 14th centuries.
