Country : Switzerland Canton : Zürich Additions:

German | In Grün ein steigender silberner, goldgezungter und bewehrter Löwe. |
English | Vert, a lion rampant Argent, armed Gules. |
Origin/meaning
The arms are first seen on a seal in 1370, making it the second oldest coat of arms in the canton after Winterthur. The lion is probably based on the Habsburg lion, as Grüningen was an Austrian Habsburg possession from 1274 to 1408.
The green background refers to the name Grüningen. The arms have basically not changed since the 15th century.
