Country: Canada |
French | Blazon wanted |
English | Sable on a pile Argent a thistle proper. |
Origin/meaning
The thistle is from the emblem of the Town of Glace Bay. The white V-shaped heraldic component represents the icy waters of the bay, from which the Town derives its name, glace meaning "ice" in French. Black represents the coal mines which were at the origin of the settlement.
The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on June 1, 1995.
