Former province : 1997-2009 Etelä-Suomi, until 1997 Uusimaa
Official blazon
Sinisessä kentässä yläreunaltaan lohenpyrstökoroinen kultahirsi.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 22, 1955.
The arms show a salmon-tailed fess, which symbolise the importance of the salmon industry for the town.
The arms replaced older arms, adopted in 1946.
These arms showed a letter K and a cogwheel for industry. The division-per-pine indicated the (former) forests in the area.
