Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on May 21, 2019.
The village is situated on a former marshy area around the Elbe river. This is symbolised by the lower blue filed (Elbe) and the upper green field with golden (sandy) dunes on which the houses were built in medieval times. The two wheat ears refer to agriculture as well as the merger of the two municipalities in 1974. The ribbon refers to the merger as well as to the tight connections between the village sduring the centuries.
The anchor symbolises the importance of shipping on the Elbe and the harbour (built in the 1970s).
