LES BORGES DEL CAMP
Region: Catalonia
Province: Tarragona
Catalan | Escut caironat: d'or, una banda ondada d'atzur carregada d'una creu de tau de sable, acostada de 2 arbres de sinople a la destra i de 2 borges de sinople a la sinistra. Per timbre una corona mural de vila. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 25, 1997.
The arms are canting; the two "borges" (Catalan for "huts") and the two trees (an allusion to the "camp", Catalan for "country") are separated by the Riera d'Alforja, the torrent that flows near the town. In the middle there is a Tau Cross, or Cross of Santa Tecla (the patron saint of Tarragona), related to the fact that Les Borges del Camp belonged to the archbishops of Tarragona, the regional centre nearby.
