Origin/meaning

The arms of Lippstadt District were granted on September 26, 1936.

The arms are a combination of the arms of the State of Köln and the rose of Lippe. The southern part of the district was part of the diocese of Köln from the 14^th century until 1802. The rose of Lippe is taken from the arms of Lippe and Lippstadt-city.
