Origin/meaning

The Battle-Axe was chosen as beeing an old and powerful weapon. It also allude to the Fairey Battle Aircraft once flown by the Squadron. The Green shaft alludes to the Squadron longtime service in Ireland. The badge was granted in January 1938.
