History: First formed in 1933 at Royal Naval Air Station Netheravon, Wiltshire as a Fleet Fighter Squadron with Hawker Siddley Osprey Aircraft. Disbanded in 1937 and reformed 1945 and transfered to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1948.

Official blazon
English Barry wavy of eight white and blue; a wasp with tail inclined to profile proper.

Motto: Cave punctum.


Origin/meaning

The Wasp symbolises the Rear gunner of the Hawker Siddley Osprey which fired astern. The Latin Motto translates as "Beware my sting". The badge was approved on 8 April 1937.
