History: First formed in 1940 at Royal Naval Air Station Ford (HMS Peregrine), West Sussex as a Torpedo-Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron for HMS Illustrious. Took part in the raid on Taranto with Fairey Swordfish.

Origin/meaning
The Latin Motto translates as "Strike at the weakest point" was approved in 1991 and allude to the Anti Submarine Role. The badge was approved on 15 January 1945.
