Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1949.
The lower half shows the arms of Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson (1390s – 4 May 1436) a Swedish rebel leader and later statesman. He was the leader of the Engelbrekt rebellion in 1434 against Eric of Pomerania, king of the Kalmar Union. He was born in Norberg. The chief shows the iron symbol, for the iron works in the area.
