Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ?
The wavy division line symbolises the Ems river in the municipality. The scissors are taken from the arms of the medieval Lords of Langen. The four ears symbolise the agricultural character of the area, as well as the villages of Oberlangen, Sand, Wilholte and Oberlangen-Moor/Siedlung.
The colours are those of the State of Münster, to which the area belonged until 1803.
