Origin/meaning
The blue wavy bend symbolizes a river, which to some extent reflects Bishop Per Eckerdal's motto, "Among you", taken from John 1:26, and the bishop also reads in "the entire biblical typology linked to the river and which is reflected in the hymnal no. 386, 'The water of the river flows constantly, life to the tree and herb it bears. The water of life in a baptismal font testifies that God is here'". In addition, the bend also points to the family name Eckerdal, as the bishop's grandfather built a cottage at Eckerna. The fish is partly the old symbol for the Christians (ICHTHYS), and partly it is taken from the coat of arms the bishop's brother Lars Eckerdal.
