Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 19, 1999.

The lion is a cymbol of the local patron saint, São Mamede (St. Mammes of Caesarea). The pine trees refer to the local (pine) forests and the wind-mill blades refer to the (former) windmills in the parish as well as industry.
