Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 1, 1973.

The cross evokes the first name of the village: Capela da Fazendinha (Chapel_ of the Small Farm), the stars represent the dream of the first settlers of a bright future to the region, the two wavy bars allude to the rivers Itapetininga and Sarapuz that flow around the city. The fleurs de lys are the attribute of the Blessed Virgin, patron saint of the -city.

The supporters show that corn and cotton are important agricultural products of the region. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the Latin motto "FIDE, LABOR ET SPES" (work and hope with faith)
