Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 29, 2004.

The division of the shield and the two swans are taken from the arms of Schönwalde (Havelland). The blue field also refers to the many lakes and rivers in the area. The other hal shows an ash leaf, with 7 leaves, one for each of the villages in the municipality. The ash slo is canting for the -walde (forest) part of the name. The golden colour also represents the loam soail in the area, and is canting for Gliem, which is derived from an old Slavomnic word for loam.
