Origin/meaning
The village adopted arms in 1967. These were changed and new arms were officially granted on October 25, 1993.
The arms show in the upper part an otter, formerly an important animal in the region, and at the same time the otter symbolises the formerly important fishing for the town.
The base shows a twig of Erica (Heide in german), a canting element.
The previous arms showed the importance of the chemical industry and agriculture, as well as the town's initial.
