Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 21, 1899.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Lords of Sint-Joris-ten-Distel during the 18^th century, the Triest family. The family, originated from Brugge and acquired the estate by inheritance in 1725. They remained owners of the estate until they sold the estate in 1790.
