Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 7, 1936.

The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from the 18^th century. The bar is taken from the arms of the Counts of Sponheim, as the village belonged to the Sponheim County for a long time. The crown probably refers to the fact that the counts had a seat in the German Reichstag (parliament) until the late 18^th century.
