The name of the village according to historical sources is derived from the patron of the local church. The oldest general seal of Martinček village dates from 1766 and shows a tree. The type of tree can not be distinguished. | |||
A second seal is known from the middle of the 19th century (1859) and shows a linden tree, a common symbol in Slavic culture, symbolising justice, fertility and motherhood. | |||
As the tree is a very common symbol, it was decided to add symbols for St. Martin of Tours; a cloak being cut by his sword, and a mitre as a symbol that he was a bishop of Tours. | |||
