Origin/meaning
The arms were not officially granted.
The arms show an eagle with a sheet. This is based on a legend on the foundation of the city, a few centuries BC. The local Umbrians started to built their city, when an eagle holding a sheet appeared in the sky. The eagle placed the sheet on a much better position for the city, and the Umbrians decided to move their city to the placed it still is. Unfortunately we have no information on the meaning or origin of these arms yet.
