Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 23, 2000.

The Pegasus symbolizes three famous Lithuanian writers of the 19^th century (Povilas Visinskis, Zemaite, Satrijos Ragana) who lived in the town, and the wavy bar refers to the Venta river, from which the name of the town originates.
