Origin/meaning

The arms were designed in 1888 and adopted in 1889.

They are based on the arms of the Valentin family, Lords of Vaugneray from the fifteen^th century, and the griffin and lion of the church of Lyon, to which the parish of Vaugneray belonged until 1789. The V is the town's initial.
