Origin/meaning

The arms show two beech leaves for the large beech forests in the municipality. The tower refers to the former local castle, the Asseburg, which dates from the 13^th century. The miner's tools refer to the former salt mines in the village.

The colours are a canting element, as the name is derived from 'area near white water'. The green also refers to the nature, the silver to the salt mining.
