Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 14, 1994. The arms show in the right half a milk churn, a canting element (Butte) for the Lords of Buttlar. This family played a major role in the local history. The village historically was part of the State of Fulda and in the 18th century Constantin von Buttlar was Prince-Bishop of Fulda.
The left half shows the quartered shield of the Lords of Boyneburg, another influential local family.
Both symbols have been used on the village seal since the early 20th century.
