Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:Per chevron enhanced Azure (Light blue) and Gules, on achevron embattled counter-embattled Or a stylized turret Sable charged with a cross pommé of the field, in base and above a fountain a sword point down and key with ward to base saltirewise of the third. Attached below and around the the sides of the shield a black tripartite scroll doubled and inscribed "SERVICE WATER PRIDE". |
Origin/meaning
The Black Sentry Box symbolises the "Devil's Sentry" at San Cristobal Fortress in San Juan, alluding to the location and heritage of the Battalion. The Embattle chevron symbolises support and highlights Fortifications and Defence. The Sword and Key are from the Quartermaster Corps Insignia. The Fountain symbolises the Water Supply Mission of the Battalion.
The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 20 July 2001.
