History: Designated as Maintenance Squadron, 27 Maintenance and Supply Group on 28 Jul 1947. Organized on 15 Aug 1947. Discontinued on 1 Aug 1948. Consolidated (22 Oct 1984) with 27 Equipment Maintenance Squadron (constituted as 27 Maintenance Squadron, Fighter, Two Engine on 14 Jun 1948; activated on 1 Aug 1948; redesignated 27 Maintenance Squadron, Fighter, Jet on 1 Dec 1949; 27 Maintenance Squadron on 1 Feb 1950; 27 Field Maintenance Squadron on 16 Jun 1952; inactivated on 25 Sep 1957; activated on 20 Sep 1962; organized on 1 Oct 1962; redesignated 27 Equipment Maintenance Squadron on 1 Apr 1978), and the 27 Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (constituted on 30 Aug 1957, activated on 25 Sep 1957, discontinued and inactivated on 1 Oct 1962). Consolidated unit retained 27 Equipment Maintenance Squadron designation. Redesignated:27 Special Operations Equipment Maintenance Squadron on 1 Oct 2007; 27 Special Operations Maintenance Squadron on 3 Jan 2012.
