Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description:On a silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of the head of a cottonmouth snake with a stylized tongue shaped as a thunderbird scarlet, two fangs exposed and dripping blue drops of venom. Arched below a buff scroll inscribed "MACHINAMENTUM DE VITAE" in silver letters. |
Origin/meaning
Buff and Blue are the Colours used by the Quartermaster Corps. The Cottonmouth Snake are native to Oklahoma. The Tongue is shaped as a Thunderbird alluding to the old Oklahoma 45th Division, the roots of the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The Blue Venom Drops, represent the Battalion's Water purification capability. The Black Drops signify unpurified Water, and the White Ons the purified Water. The Motto translates as "The Machine of Life". The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 6 March 2006.
