A gold color metal and enamel 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height consisting of a white enamel simulated mountain peak charged at center with a gold and red heraldic rose all above a gold rolled scroll in front of a gold sword with point to right, the area below sword and scroll in green enamel and enclosed at sides and in base by a curving blue enamel band.

Origin/meaning

The unit's mission, to perform civil affairs and military government functions in support of combat and post combat phases of military operations, is symbolized by the sword and scroll at center. The white peak represents Mt. Hood, which can be seen in the distance; the green area refers to the fertile valley, and the blue band to the Willamette River. The rose symbolizes the city of Portland which is famous as the "City of Roses."

The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 27 March 1972. It was cancelled on 16 September 1979.
