Consolidated (12 Oct 1984) with the 97 Air Police Squadron, Bombardment, Medium, which was constituted on 28 May 1948. Activated on 12 Jul 1948. Redesignated as 97 Air Police Squadron on 16 Mar 1950. Inactivated on 16 Jun 1952. Redesignated as 97 Combat Defense Squadron on 22 Apr 1959. Activated on 1 Jul 1959. Redesignated as 97 Security Police on 2 Jul 1967. Inactivated on 1 Jul 1992. Activated on 1 Oct 1992. Redesignated as 97 Security Forces Squadron on 1 Jul 1997.
