Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 10, 1934.
The red chevrons are derived from the arms of the former Ravensberg County, to which the region belonged. The chief shows a toll-fence (Gatterbaum), built by the Governors of the Sparrenburg in the Amt, on the main road from Köln to Minden. The village and the amt were named after this toll place.
