Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 21, 1961.
The oak is a common tree in the area and the 7 branches refer to the seven municipalities at the time in the Amt. The water mill wheel refers to the industry in the region. The chief shows the cross of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged. The silver and blue are the colours of the Counts of Arnsberg, who ruled the area in medieval times.
