Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 15, 1960.

The arms are based on the medieval arms of the Lords of Höchst. A Ulrich von Höste (or Höst or Hosten) was mentioned in the Zürich Roll of Arms in the 14^th century. His seals with the chevron are known from 1285, 1291 and 1303.
