Origin/meaning

The arms of Palézieux are identical to those of the medieval Lords of Palézieux, who ruled the village in the 12th and 13^th century. The village itself was founded besides the castle Palézieux by the successors of the Lords of Palézieux, the Lords of Billens, in the 14^th century. They also granted the city rights in 1344, which were abolished by the new rulers, the Lords of Gruyères at the end of the 14^th century.

The arms have been used by the village since the 19^th century.
