Origin/meaning
Maroon and white are the colors associated with the Army Medical Department. Green is the color related to healing and renewal. The delta symbol (triangular shape) is equivalent to the English letter "D," the first letter in the word dentistry. Gold and silver (white) are the two precious metals used in the practice of the dental science. Together the above refer to the overall mission and capabilities of the unit. The colors blue and maroon, the gold arch (an allusion to the sun) and the zigzag division along with the delta represent Denver, Colorado, the unit's home.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 7 July 1981.
