WÖRGL
State : Tirol
District : Kufstein
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 20, 1911 and again on August 18, 1951.
The first arms for Wörgl were granted in 1911 and showed in the upper half a letter W, the town's initial, and also the initial of the Werberg castle. IT has also been mentioned as being the broken roof of the local castle. The family Von Werburg played a major role in the local history. The lower half of the arms showedd two combined wings with rings, symbolising the merger of the municipalities Wörgl-Kufstein and Wörgl-Rattenberg in 1911.
